Man with knife locked out of Shoppers Drug Mart in Chatham

A 26-year-old Tilbury man is facing charges after he allegedly pulled a knife out of his pocket and threatened a Shoppers Drug Mart store manager in Chatham Sunday evening.

Chatham-Kent police said the man allegedly pulled the knife and threatened the manager after he got into an argument and was asked to leave the store.

The manager locked the door to the store as the man left and contacted police.

Officers said were called in at around 8:30 p.m. Sunday and found the man a short distance from the store and arrested him

He was charged with assault with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and assault with a weapon, taken into custody, and later released with conditions and a future court date.

Shoeless stroll leads to arrest

A 35-year-old Chatham woman spent some time sobering up in police custody after she was found walking around in Thamesville barefoot in her pyjamas.

Police said they went to check on the woman at around 10:20 p.m. Sunday after she was seen pacing on Amelia Street.

Officers said when they found her, she was reportedly intoxicated and unable to care for herself, so they took her back to police headquarters and held her there until she was sober.

Woman arrested after police find stolen vehicle

A 34-year-old Dresden woman has been arrested and charged after she was allegedly found inside a vehicle that was reported stolen last month by Sarnia police.

Officers said they found the vehicle on Bruce Street in Wallaceburg at around 4:15 a.m. Sunday and found the woman inside.

She was arrested, charged with possession of stolen property, and released with conditions and a future court date.
