Loretta Rogers, director of Rogers Communications and philanthropist, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by family, the company said.
Her daughter, Martha, tweeted an announcement along with a request for privacy, on Saturday afternoon.

Rogers served as the director of Rogers Communications since 1979, which was founded by her late husband Ted Rogers. She also established and invested in a number of charitable causes including: the Ted Rogers Centre for Heart Research, the Loretta A. Rogers Chair in Eating Disorders at Toronto General & Western Hospital, and the Ted Rogers Family Chair in Heart Function at the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre.
She is survived by her four children Lisa, Melinda, Martha, and Edward and her grandchildren.

We are grieving for an amazing woman who had love and compassion in her heart, kindness in her soul, and who possessed an incredible strength of character. She lived a full and vibrant life and we, like all those who knew her, will deeply miss her leadership and guidance." Edward, who is Chairman of Rogers Communications, said.
