CK Hospice matching monthly donations

Donations to the Chatham-Kent Hospice this month will have double the impact.

All monthly gifts made in June will be matched for the next year, up to $50,000.

"We have an amazing, generous donor, who's donated the $50,000 to help up grow this program because they really do believe in hospice care, and they do believe in the monthly giving program and how it can just give us that ongoing suppport," said Jodi Maroney, executive director of the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation. "So we're trying to encourage people to sign up for our monthly giving program, and take advantage of this inventive."

Maroney adds that it's really easy to become a Hospice Hero monthly giving donor.

"Take a look at your budget, decide what works for you and how much you can give every month. Then sign up and it automatically either comes off your credit card or out of your bank account every single month. You don't have to do anything, it's just super easy."

Donors can also change the amount or leave the program at any time if their situation changes, but monthly donations are very important to the hospice.

"With costs going up our government funding hasn't increased, so I would say less than 50% of the budget is covered by the government funding," said Maroney. "That means that we rely on donations for the balance. Right now it's $120,000 a month that we need to raise."

All donations are used to support the Chatham-Kent Hospice's mission to provide compassionate end-of-life care for local families at no cost. To become a Hospice Hero monthly giving donor, call 519-354-3113, or their website at www.chathamkenthospice.com.
