Canniff seeking another term as Chatham-Kent's mayor

Chatham-Kent Mayor Darrin Canniff will be taking another run at municipal office.

The nomination period doesn't officially open until Monday, May 2, 2022, but Canniff announced his intention to run for re-election Wednesday morning on CK Mornings with Chris, Jen, and Matt on 94.3 CKSY.

"I absolutely love what I do and Chatham-Kent is certainly moving in the right direction," said Canniff. "The last four years seem to have flown by, so yes, I will be running for re-election come October."

Canniff first entered municipal politics in 2014 when he was elected as a Ward 6 councillor in Chatham-Kent.

He was elected to his first term of office as Chatham-Kent's mayor in 2018, beating out mayoral candidates Alysson Storey (who finished second in voting) and incumbent mayor Randy Hope (who was seeking a fourth consecutive term and finished third).
