A local charity is asking residents to “rock the block” in support of children in need across Chatham-Kent.
The Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation of Chatham-Kent is hosting its 21st annual Festival of Giving event on June 25. The event will once again be held virtually, but residents are encouraged to purchase tickets and host their own summer gatherings in their own backyards.
"One in five children in Chatham-Kent are helped at the Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent," said Fund Development Officer Lisa Caron. "Support from this event will help ensure that the centre can continue providing specialized care and therapy to the children in Chatham-Kent so that children of all abilities can reach their full potential."
Tickets for the event will go on sale on April 20 for $175, with all proceeds going towards funding needs for the Children’s Treatment Centre. All ticket purchasers will receive a $100 tax receipt, $75 worth of certificates for local Chatham-Kent businesses, and be entered into a chance to win the grand prize Dream Trip valued at $7,500 by Vellinga Travel & Cruise Experts or a cash prize.
"We wanted to keep a fun theme," said Caron. "Residents will get some gift certificates to shop local, grab some items and get everyone together," said Caron."We're having our online auction again the week prior to the event, which will run for the full week. We will have our live auction online as well."
This will be the third year the foundation has held the event virtually due to the pandemic, however, Caron said this year will include a few surprises that will be new.
"I think we have a good process right now," said Caron.
The money raised by the foundation will go towards supporting social work, therapeutic recreation, and music therapy at the Children’s Treatment Centre.
Last year’s virtual Festival of Giving event raised $151,500 for the Children’s Treatment Centre with more than 600 tickets sold.
“When you buy a ticket you not only get a great value with the Festival of Giving party bag and a chance at a grand prize, but you are supporting our kids and families at the same time.”
