Chatham residents will soon have a chance to support local charities while they're shopping this spring.
The Springtime on the Thames Charity Market will be a free, family-friendly event at 106 William Street North in Chatham on April 23 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The market will feature a variety of local vendors, entertainment, and chances to win prizes in a raffle for charities.
"Last year, we were able to raise $2,000 for PAW Animal Rescue and the Dover Centre Church," said Market Organizer Sarah MacArthur. "We hope to raise a little more this time around."
MacArthur said each vendor is charged a $40 fee for a spot in the market and $20 of that fee is donated to the selected charities.
"Vendors will also donate items for gift baskets," said MacArthur. "Last year, we had so many items, we were able to raffle off gift baskets and all the proceeds from that went to our selected charities."
The market is expecting to feature up to 50 different local vendors. So far, some of the vendors include Sweet Tooth Treats, Little Cottage Creations, Guttridge Farmstead Candles, Leo’s vinyl Shack Outback, and more.
Brit Boys British Fish N Chips and Sizzlers Snack Shack will also be serving up truck-side food.
"Getting together with the vendors is always a great time," said MacArthur. "We love supporting local and being in the community."
