UPDATE: wind warning lifted

Update: Environment Canada announced on Thursday afternoon that wind warnings for the region had been lifted.

--

Now that the wind has picked up, Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for much of Southwestern Ontario.

The agency anticipates wind gusts of up to 90 km/h in London, Parkhill, Eastern and Western Middlesex County, Strathroy, and Komoka.

It said a cold front is moving through the region bringing wind strong enough it could damage buildings, break tree branches, and toss loose objects.

An earlier weather statement warned of power outages, and Hydro One reports scattered ones, especially north and west of London.

Winds had subsided Thursday afternoon in Chatham-Kent, Rondeau Park, Windsor-Essex, and Sarnia-Lambton, and the wind warning was cancelled in those areas.
