Tammy Howell of Merlin has won the CK Charity 50/50 Raffle jackpot.
Her winning ticket number – 994160075 – was drawn early Wednesday afternoon.
Howell won $46,685 in the raffle, which supports the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation and the Children's Treatment Centre Foundation of Chatham-Kent (CTCF).
“I am not sure what I will do with the money," said Howell. "This is a great surprise. Maybe I will put it toward a new car."
The 50/50 raffle launched in January as a way of raising money for the programming that is offered at the Children’s Treatment Centre and towards the end of life programming at the Chatham-Kent Hospice.
Over 2,800 people purchased tickets and the proceeds will be divided equally between the two organizations. The 50/50 raffle was sponsored by the Lally Group and Winmar Property Restoration Specialists.
The Hospice Foundation has previously said donations are needed each month to support operational needs at the hospice. Meanwhile, the CTCF raises money to support the Children’s Treatment Centre which provides care and therapy to children and youth in CK who have physical, developmental or communication challenges.
