Man charged with public intoxication

A 60-year-old Chatham man spent some time sobering at Chatham-Kent police headquarters on Sunday after police picked him up on King Street West in Chatham.

Police said they arrested him at around 7:45 a.m. Sunday after they received a report of a suspicious man in the area.

Officers said the man was intoxicated when they found him and was unable to care for himself.

The accused was taken into custody, charged with public intoxication, and held until he was sober.

Woman accused of damaging home

A 52-year-old Chatham woman is facing weapons and mischief charges after she allegedly damaged a residence during a domestic disturbance in Chatham Sunday night.

Police said they were called to the scene just before 8 p.m. Sunday, adding that the woman was arrested, charged, and later released with a future court date.

Disturbance call leads to arrest

Two people who were far from home spent some time in Chatham-Kent police custody early Monday morning after officers responded to a disturbance call in Chatham.

Police said they arrested a 32-year-old man from Varna, Ontario and a 32-year-old man from Seaforth, Ontario outside of a local business on St. Clair Street and charged them with being intoxicated in a public place.

They were both held in custody until they were sober.
