Local COVID death toll climbs to 120

Lambton Public Health is reporting another two deaths related to COVID-19.

In its daily update Friday, the health unit reported the local death toll has risen to 120. The latest two deaths were an individual in their 70s that passed away in hospital, and a long-term care resident in their 80s.

Lambton Public Health also reported 47 more lab confirmed cases of the virus, and 58 resolved cases, lowering the number of known active infections by 13 to 243.

The number of active outbreaks in the community remains unchanged at six.

There are 13 COVID-positive patients at Bluewater Health, down from 16 on Thursday. The hospital's website is reporting one positive patient in intensive care.

Since the start of the pandemic nearly two years ago, there have been 9,394 confirmed infections, and 9,031 resolved cases.
