Man arrested while walking away from abandoned vehicle

A call about an abandoned vehicle in Chatham-Kent led police to a wanted man on Wednesday.

Chatham-Kent police said when they showed up to check out the vehicle, which was abandoned in a field on 16th Line, they found a man walking away from the vehicle with the keys.

Police said their investigation showed that the vehicle had been reported stolen a few days earlier and that the man was wanted on some outstanding charges from previous incidents.

The accused was arrested and taken to police headquarters where he was set to be held pending a bail hearing.

Man arrested for breaking into previous victim's house and assaulting them

A 32-year-old Glencoe man is facing several charges after he allegedly broke into his previous victim's house and assaulted them.

Police said the man was released from court on January 10 with several conditions, including a curfew and a ban on communicating with his alleged victim and an order to stay at least 100 metres away from any place the victim resides or works.

Officers said despite those orders, the man allegedly broke into the victim's residence at 11 p.m. Wednesday and assaulted them.

Police said when officers arrived at the home, the man was still inside.

The accused was charged with break and enter, assault, mischief, and three counts of failing to comply with his release conditions.

He was taken to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.

Woman arrested for assault and mischief

A 68-year-old Howard Township woman is facing charges after police were called to investigate a disturbance at an address in Howard Township.

Police said they got the call at around 12 a.m. on February 9 and arrested the woman after investigating further.

She was charged with assault with a weapon and mischief and was later released with a future court date.
