Nicholls speaks about tweet asking if mainstream media should be "dismantled" (Audio)

Chatham-Kent-Leamington MPP Rick Nicholls is trying to explain the motivation behind a tweet he posted that asks if the mainstream media should be "dismantled."

The tweet was posted on Sunday ahead of an announcement by Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson declaring a state of emergency in that city as the Freedom Convoy protest continues.

Nicholls captioned a photo of a transport truck shown in the rearview mirror of another vehicle. It includes a caption that reads, "Freedom is closer than it appears." Nicholls added, "MSM can't deny the inevitable. When we've won, should MSM be dismantled?"

The tweet was welcomed by some on Twitter. Others pointed out the freedom of the press and other news media is protected under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

WindsorNewsToday.ca spoke with Nicholls about the tweet. The full interview has been posted here, with two edits removing the name of the President and CEO of Shepherds of Good Hope at 19:56 and at 21:01 when the phone number to the homeless shelter is provided.  The interview concludes at 30:04.
