Three more residents of Chatham-Kent have died from COVID-19.
Chatham-Kent Public Health Spokesperson Jeff Moco said the latest deaths involve a man in his 50s and two women in their 80s and 90s.
The total number of COVID-19 deaths is now up to 44 with the new deaths reported Tuesday morning.
Chatham-Kent Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Colby said with a large number of outbreaks in congregate settings, the number of deaths goes up.
"We are currently at around 42 and that's 42 more than I would like to see," Colby said in an interview Tuesday before daily stats were updated. "We have to deal with what we have to deal with."
There are 11 active COVID-19 outbreaks in Chatham-Kent, the latest at Fairfield Park in Wallaceburg involves seven confirmed cases.
The COVID-19 outbreak in the Dialysis unit at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance has been declared over. The hospital has no active COVID-19 outbreaks at this time.
There's been no change in the number of patients at the hospital. The health alliance reported 32 patients in the hospital, 14 of whom are being treated for COVID-19.
However, the number of patients in the intensive care unit is down to three.
