Man robs motel in Chatham while holding scissors
A 24-year-old man of no fixed address is facing charges after a robbery was reported at a motel in Chatham.
Police said they were called to the business Monday afternoon and learned that a man who was holding scissors in a "threatening manner" stole three laptops and a cell phone from the staff's office at the motel.
Officers said they found the man outside and arrested him, adding that the stolen property was also recovered and returned to the rightful owners.
The man accused of stealing it was charged with robbery and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He was later released with a future court date.

Wanted man allegedly lies to officer during traffic stop
A 34-year-old Chatham man who was already wanted by police is in even more trouble after he allegedly lied to an officer about his identity during a traffic stop in Chatham Monday night.
Police said the officer caught up with the man after pulling over a vehicle on Sandys Street.
When the officer learned who the man was -- and that he was wanted on two outstanding warrants -- he was arrested, charged, and taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Two arrests after police respond to disturbance call
A 25-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman who had both been ordered to stay away from each other are facing charges now after they were allegedly causing a disturbance together.
Police said they found the pair together while they were responding to a call Monday night, adding that both of the accused were arrested and charged with failing to comply with their release conditions.
They were both taken into custody pending a bail hearing.
