Outbreak declared at HDGH

Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare (HDGH) declared an outbreak in the 3 North, Complex Medical Care Unit on Friday.

In a statement, HDGH said that there are four patients that tested positive for COVID-19 and are associated with the outbreak.

Two of these patients have been discharged, leaving two patients onsite.

"The safety of our staff, physicians, visitors and our community at large, has and will remain our top priority," the statement read.

In an effort to keep people safe, HDGH announced that outbreak measures have been put in place for 3 North:

• limiting new admissions

• temporarily suspending Designated Care Partners

• enhanced cleaning

• providing in room therapy for patients

• temporarily suspending students, contractors and non-essential staff

• reinforcing the importance of the use of personal protective equipment and consistent washing of hands and respecting of physical distancing

HDGH recently announced a new president and CEO.

The hospital assured that it will provide more information as it becomes available.

Youth volunteers practice coastal conservation

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
