CK public health to substitute vaccines for some

Chatham-Kent Public Health has received notice that an expected Pfizer vaccine order from the province has been temporarily delayed.

Starting Monday, available vaccines will be distributed as follows:

– Residents aged 12 to 29 will receive the Pfizer vaccine as recommended by the National Advisory Committee on Immunization.

– Residents aged 30 and over will receive the Moderna vaccine.

“Since Moderna and Pfizer vaccines are interchangeable for people 30 and older, there is no need to cancel or change your appointment,” public health stated in a release. “It is more important to get a booster as soon as you can.”

Should residents wish to cancel a booked appointment, they can do so online in their PerfectMind account or by completing the online cancellation form.

Health officials said this vaccine administration plan will be in place until vaccine supplies from the province increase.
