This year's Giving Tuesday was a goal-surpassing day for the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation (CKHA).
The CKHA Foundation says that more than 50 donations were made during their third annual fundraising campaign, totaling $13,400.
Each year after Cyber Monday, many decide to give back on Giving Tuesday, the world’s largest generosity movement.
Foundation CEO Mary Lou Crowley said local businesses and residents came out in full force to help the foundation surpass their fundraising goal of $10,000.
"We are just delighted with the community after yesterday," said Crowley. "It's just incredible, the community never disappoints."
The money raised will go towards the foundation's Christmas Wish Tree campaign.
"It's part of our Christmas Wish Tree campaign because it falls right in the middle of it," said Crowley. "It's wonderful how Giving Tuesday gets the community to come together, so all of the money raised will get pooled into our campaign."
According to Crowley, the foundation had several partners throughout Chatham-Kent that came on board for this year's one-day fundraising campaign.
"We received support all throughout Chatham-Kent," said Crowley. "It's one of those times of the year where the community comes together to support a great cause."
Crowley said some of the local partnerships this year included Progressive Ford, Wallaceburg Retirement Residence, and Ryan Rusnak Advanced Realty Solutions.
"We really want to thank the community," said Crowley. "We are grateful to have such tremendous support and to see people helping other people."
