The two hospitals in Chatham-Kent are getting a facelift thanks to new provincial funding.
Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) will receive $1,963,286 through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund (HIRF).
The Ontario government is investing over $7.1 million to support hospitals and critical health care providers in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex and the surrounding region with infrastructure upgrades and repairs.
Chief Financial Officer Aaron Ryan said the new money will go towards some renovations, removing asbestos for a new ambulatory care area at the Wallaceburg site, new roofing, and a new air conditioning system at the Chatham hospital. Ryan said the new ambulatory care area in Wallaceburg should be open by January.
The Chatham-Kent Community Health Centres also received $65,201 from the province.
