COVID outbreak at Sarnia elementary school

For the first time in just over two months, Lambton Public Health is reporting an outbreak of COVID-19.

In its daily update Tuesday, the health unit reported an outbreak of the virus at Gregory A. Hogan Catholic School. The separate school board said two students have tested positive for the virus and two classes are closed as a result. The school is open.

Positive cases previously reported at St. Matthew and St. Phillip's schools have been removed from the St. Clair Catholic District School Board's website.

Two more elementary schools with the Lambton Kent District School Board are reporting confirmed student cases. The public board said one student at Cathcart Boulevard Public School has tested positive, and another student case has been reported at Confederation Central School. Both schools remain open.

There were nine new cases reported up to 3,778, and eight cases have been deemed resolved for a total of 3,655, increasing the number of active infections by one to 54.

Bluewater Health has one COVID-positive patient in hospital, unchanged from Monday.
