COVID-19 outbreak declared at Dresden school, church outbreak grows

The Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit (CKPHU) is reporting another jump in the number of new COVID-19 cases in Chatham-Kent over the weekend -- including two more outbreaks.

The CKPHU reported 45 new cases Monday along with 32 more resolved cases, boosting the number of active cases locally to 126.

The outbreaks that were added in Chatham-Kent in Monday's report include one at Dresden Area Central School involving two cases and one at an undisclosed workplace involving three cases.

The last time a school outbreak was declared in Chatham-Kent was back in April of this year.

There are two other ongoing outbreaks locally, one at the Rehab Unit of the hospital in Chatham involving three cases and the other is at Praise Fellowship Church (classified in the report as a Community Setting), which is now up to 24 cases.

The number of Chatham-Kent residents who are hospitalized with COVID-19 dropped by one to 15.
