It's shaping up to be a stormy afternoon and evening in southwestern Ontario.
Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for London and Middlesex County, Elgin County, Chatham-Kent, Windsor and Essex County, Huron County, Perth County, and Sarnia-Lambton.
As of 9 p.m. Tuesday, severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for Oxford County and Woodstock-Tillsonburg, London-Middlesex, Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent, and Elgin County. Warnings in some of those areas were lifted by that time.
The weather agency says conditions are ripe for the development of severe thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon and evening.
"The strongest of these thunderstorms will be capable of producing strong wind gusts up to 110 km/h, large hail up to 2 cm in diameter and locally heavy rainfall," the advisory said. "There is also the risk of a tornado."
The threat of thunderstorms is likely to pass around midnight.
