Hatchet-wielding woman arrested after incident in downtown Chatham

A Chatham woman is facing charges after she was allegedly spotted swinging a hatchet around while knocking over some garbage bins Tuesday night.

Chatham-Kent police said they arrested her after getting a call about a disturbance on King Street in downtown Chatham at around 10:25 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers said the woman was also spotted throwing the garbage around.

The accused was arrested, charged, and later released with a future court date.

Wanted Tilbury arrested

A 31-year-old Tilbury man who was wanted for failing to comply with his release conditions has been arrested.

Police said they took him into custody after a short foot chase, adding that they found him while they were investigating a separate incident at around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The accused was arrested and was set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Wanted woman arrested in Tilbury

A 29-year-old woman who was wanted for failing to comply with her probation was arrested in Tilbury.

Police said an officer on general patrol saw her in the area of Superior Street at Queen Street on Tuesday.

The woman was taken to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters and later released with a future court date.
