Non-essential travel restrictions for Canadians entering the U.S. have been extended for another month.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) tweeted Friday morning that the United States is extending current restrictions until at least September 21, 2021. The rules were set to expire on Saturday.
The DHS cited continued efforts to limit the spread of COVID-19 and the Delta variant as one of the key reasons behind the ongoing closure of land crossings, including both the Blue Water Bridge and Ambassador Bridge.
To minimize the spread of #COVID19, including the Delta variant, the United States is extending restrictions on non-essential travel at our land and ferry crossings with Canada and Mexico through September 21, while continuing to ensure the flow of essential trade and travel.
