Police arrest man found inside Chatham home

Chatham-Kent police were called to the area of Tweedsmuir Avenue about a suspicious man inside a residence Sunday evening.

Police say the man entered the house while the homeowner was in the backyard watering flowers. When the homeowner went inside, they observed the man and he ran out the front door.

Officers located the man and placed him under arrest. As a result, a 25-year-old West Lorne man has been charged with being unlawfully in a dwelling house.  He remains in police custody.

Arrest leads to drug charges

A 38-year-old man is facing several charges after being caught in possession of suspected cocaine and fentanyl.

Police located the man, who was wanted on a surety relief warrant, on Keil Drive in Chatham. Police say the man was arrested and found to be in possession of the drugs.

The man was charged with failing to comply with release conditions and two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.   He was released pending a future court date on September 30 and transported to a local correctional facility as per the warrant.

Woman found allegedly carrying prohibited weapon

Chatham-Kent police were called about a suspicious woman in the area of Grand Avenue East on Sunday.

According to police, officers located the woman and learned that she was wanted on outstanding warrants. Police say the woman was arrested and found to be carrying a flick knife, despite being on conditions not to possess any weapons.

The 41-year-old woman has been charged with being in possession of a prohibited weapon, failing to comply with her release conditions, and breach of probation.

She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man arrested and charged after providing false name, being in possession of crystal methamphetamine

Around 3 a.m. a patrol officer observed a suspicious man in the area of Lacroix Street and Richmond Street in Chatham.

According to police, the man provided a false name and was arrested when the officer learned the man's real identity. Police say the man was also found to be in possession of suspected crystal meth.

As a result, the 43-year-old man was charged with obstructing police and drug possession.  He was released pending a future court date on September 8.

Single-vehicle collision sends one to hospital

A 50-year-old woman has been sent to the hospital after losing control of her motorcycle and striking a tree.

Police say the woman was transported to a Windsor hospital for medical attention.

The total damage is estimated at $20,000.
