Traffic stop leads to drug charges
A 25-year-old Coatsworth man is facing a drug trafficking charge after police pulled some cocaine from a vehicle they had pulled over just west of Chatham.
Chatham-Kent police said an officer with the traffic unit stopped the vehicle on Bear Line Road in Dover Township at around 7 p.m. Wednesday and allegedly found approximately 28 grams of suspected cocaine worth approximately $2,800 inside.
A 25-year-old man was arrested and charged with drug possession for the purpose of trafficking. He was also handed multiple provincial offence notices for driving infractions and was later released with a future court date.

Police investigating a trio of break-ins
Chatham-Kent police are investigating three local break-ins and they could use your help to solve the cases.
Police said in the first case, someone broke into a shed on Park Avenue East in Chatham sometime between August 1-4, 2021 and took off with a weed trimmer valued at approximately $100.

Police said in the second case, a male suspect entered an apartment on McNaughton Avenue West in Chatham at approximately 3:40 a.m. Wednesday and stole a bicycle and some jewelry. The stolen items are worth approximately $600.
Officers were able to identify a suspect and they have requested a warrant for his arrest, but they have not been able to find him yet.
In the third case, police are investigating after someone broke into a business on Wellington Street West at around 2 a.m. Thursday and took off with an unknown amount of costume jewelry.
Police said when they arrived at the scene, they found a glass door to the business was smashed.

Four arrests on warrants
Chatham-Kent police rounded up four people on Wednesday who were all wanted for various offences.
Police said they arrested a 37-year-old Ridgetown woman at around 8 a.m. Thursday on Jeffery Street in Chatham after learning that she was wanted by the London Police Service. The woman was later transferred to London for court purposes.
Officers also picked up a 37-year-old Wallaceburg resident who was wanted for failing to attend court. The accused in that case was arrested after police received a call for service from them on Montgomery Drive in Wallaceburg at around 2:15 p.m. Wednesday.
And police arrested two more people who were wanted on outstanding warrants just before 5 p.m. Wednesday when an officer saw them walking together on Raleigh Street in Chatham.
Police said the officer arrested them after speaking with the pair and learning that they were both wanted by the local service.
A 35-year-old Chatham man was arrested and taken back to police headquarters pending a bail hearing while a 48-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and later released with a future court date.
