Drug bust in Wallaceburg

A Wallaceburg man has been charged following a drug bust in Wallaceburg.

Police said officers searched two different homes in Wallaceburg Wednesday afternoon and seized approximately $13,700 worth of suspected methamphetamine and cocaine. Digital scales, a cell phone, packaging material, and a large amount of Canadian and American cash were also seized.

A 44-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and has been charged with two counts of possession for the purposes of trafficking. He was released pending a future court date of September 2, 2021.

Man charged after failing to comply with release conditions 

A 43-year-old man is facing another charge after failing to comply with his release conditions.

According to Chatham-Kent police, the man was released from custody on April 4, 2021with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was not to communicate with a specific Shrewsbury woman.

Police said the woman checked her Facebook account on Tuesday and found a message from the man.

The man was arrested and charged with failing to comply with his release conditions.  He was released pending a future court date.

ICE unit warrant leads to a pair of charges

Two men are facing charges after members of the CKPS Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in Chatham.

Police said the two men in the home were arrested and charged with failing to comply with their release conditions by being in possession of electronic devices capable of accessing the internet, a condition stemming from a previous ICE investigation.

The 28-year-old man and 27-year-old man were both released pending a future court date on August 25.

Chatham man arrested while driving impaired 

A 40-year-old Chatham man is facing an impaired driving charge after a traffic complaint led police to the driver's location.

Chatham-Kent police said officers stopped the driver who was traveling on Indian Creek Road West in Chatham which led them to believe the man was driving while under the influence of a drug.

The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters where a drug recognition expert conducted an evaluation.  As a result, the DRE officer believed the man was impaired by a drug.

The man was charged and released pending a future court date on September 8.

Man arrested after argument takes a violent turn 

A 39-year-old man is facing several charges after an argument at a residence in Harwich Township took a violent turn.

Police said the man initially fled from the home but then returned and continued arguing.

The man was arrested and charged with several domestic and firearm-related offenses.  He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Police nab front porch thief 

A 23-year-old man has been arrested after stealing an unattended cell phone from the front porch of a residence on Wellington Street in Chatham.

Police said officers were able to identify the suspect and quickly located him on Colborne Street, still in possession of the stolen phone.

He was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

He was released pending a future court date of August 25.
