UPDATE: Severe thunderstorm watches ended

Environment Canada issued severe thunderstorm watches for most of the region on Monday.

Residents in Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent, London-Middlesex, Western Elgin County, Watford, Eastern Lambton County and Goderich, Bluewater, Southern Huron County were advised to watch out for inclement weather through most of the afternoon and evening.

At around 6:30 p.m., a watch was upgraded to a warning for Sarnia-Lambton and London-Middlesex counties. The warning was downgraded back to a watch by shortly after 8 p.m.

All weather alerts for the area were lifted by 10 p.m.

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
