Collision leads to impaired driving charge

A 62-year-old-man is facing an impaired driving charge after a collision in Ridgetown.

Around 8 p.m. on Saturday, Chatham-Kent police were called to Erie Street North in regards to a single vehicle in a ditch.

Officers attended the area and learned that the driver walked away, was picked up by another person and left the area.

Police located the driver and he was arrested for impaired operation.

The Thamesville man was eventually released with a court date in July.

Allegedly impaired driver arrested in Blenheim 

A call from a concerned citizen is to thank for getting an allegedly impaired driver off the roadways in Blenheim.

Around 3:20 p.m. on Saturday, a motorist called Chatham-Kent police to report a vehicle heading eastbound on Talbot Trail.

According to the caller, the vehicle was driving at slow speeds, veering off the roadway and swerving into oncoming traffic before speeding up again.

Police attended the area, located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop.

As a result, a 58-year-old man from Blenheim was arrested and charged with operation while impaired.

He was released with a future court date.

Man arrested for allegedly uttering threats 

A 22-year-old man is facing a pair of charges after police responded to an incident in Chatham on Saturday night.

Shortly after 8 p.m., officers were called to a residence on Grand Avenue East in regards to a man allegedly making threats to kill another person.

Through investigation, police learned that the man was also on conditions to reside with his surety and notify police if he changed his address. He allegedly was not compliant with these conditions.

As a result, the Chatham man was arrested for failing to comply and uttering threats. He was given a future court date and released.
