Sarnia-Lambton COVID cases up six, two more resolved

Lambton Public Health reported six new confirmed cases of COVID-19 Wednesday.

In its daily update, the health unit reported that since March 2020, there have been 3,532 confirmed cases of the virus.

The number of resolved infections went up by two to 3,440, increasing the active case count by four to 31.

The death toll remains unchanged at 61.

The rate of infection per 100,000 population was 27.5 for the week of May 30 to June 5, up from 24 the week before. The positivity rate also inched higher to 1.4 per cent from 1.3 per cent.

To date, 87,748 Lambton residents have received a COVID-19 vaccine, including 12,537 second doses. Nearly 12 per cent of the eligible population has been fully vaccinated.

Bluewater Health had five COVID-positive patients in hospital, unchanged from Tuesday.
