Police searching for missing boater in Lakeshore

Police are asking for the public's help after receiving a report of a missing boater in Lakeshore.

The Ontario Provincial Police said on Sunday at around 3:34 p.m., a kayaker came across a small vessel on a sandbar in Lake St. Clair near Lakeshore Park Road. The kayaker noticed that the boat was unoccupied and contacted police.

Officers have since learned that a 58-year-old man went fishing on the lake at around 8 a.m. in the small boat near the shoreline of Stoney Point.

The Essex County OPP Marine Unit, Chatham-Kent OPP Marine Unit, and the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre are currently searching the area.

The missing boater is described as being 5'10" tall, 240 lbs, with a medium build, green eyes, short grey hair, a goatee and he also wears glasses. He was last seen wearing a blue two-tone tank top and light blue shorts.

Anyone with information regarding this man's whereabouts is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
