Sarnia man charged in Chatham homicide investigation

A 26-year-old Sarnia man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection to the death of a Chatham man.

Chatham-Kent police said with help from Sarnia police, Kyle Samko was arrested early Saturday morning.

Police issued a warrant for Samko's arrest on Friday. Officers said an altercation involving several men on St. George Street in Chatham on Thursday resulted in the death of a 35-year-old man.

Samko was remanded into police custody following a bail hearing. His next court date is scheduled for June 10.

Chatham-Kent police have not released the victim's identity.
