Christmas is over six months away, but that's not stopping organizers from planning the Armoury in Lights 2021 event.
They're expanding this year's event at Tecumseh Park to be 90 minutes long.
"We are creating an illuminated pathway, which you will actually drive through," said Lisa Lester, Producer and Event Director for Four Diamond Events. "So we're taking over the rest of the park, and we're going to create this illuminated pathway that people will drive through on their way to their parking spot."
In order to make that happen, Lester said they're looking to hire 10 local artists.
"We need talented local artists to be a part of this. So we'll be taking applications in June, and each artist will get $1,000 to create an art installation that will go along this pathway."
Details on how to apply will be posted on their website, www.armouryfourdiamondevents.com, next month. Performer and dancer auditions will most likely take place in July.
The Armoury in Lights show features projection mapping technology, and over 7,000 people from across Southwestern Ontario attended the drive-in show in 2020.
Because of last year's success, Lester said they're also adding a Halloween-themed show in October.
"The actual live show is a different format, so something completely new and exciting. We're also looking to make it very Halloween-oriented, but not so scary that the little ones can't enjoy it as well."
Lester said more details on both shows will be announced in the coming months.
The 2020 Armoury in Lights event raised over $15,000 to help the local homeless community, and Lester says they will a charity tie back again this year.
