Impaired driving charge laid after crash

A 37-year-old Chatham woman is accused of driving while under the influence of a drug following a crash in the area of Campus Parkway.

Chatham-Kent police said a vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree on Friday around 8:52 p.m.

Officers reportedly suspected the woman of impaired driving.

She allegedly failed a drug recognition test and was later charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired by a drug. She was released from police custody pending a future court date.

Men arrested on warrants

A 41-year-old man has been arrested after police conducted a traffic stop on Queen Street in Chatham on Friday. Police said an arrest warrant was issued for the Chatham man after he allegedly failed to comply with his release order.

Chatham-Kent police didn't have to look far for a 27-year-old man wanted on an outstanding warrant for allegedly failing to attend court and failing to comply with his probation order. Officers said the Chatham man turned himself in on Friday. He was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
