Man tasered after allegedly assaulting police

A 21-year-old man is facing a trio of assault charges after he allegedly threw a chair at someone and kicked two police officers in Wallaceburg on Tuesday.

Police said they responded to a family dispute at a residence in Wallaceburg Tuesday morning and learned that the man had allegedly thrown a chair at a family member during an argument. Officers also learned that the man was wanted on several outstanding warrants.

Police said while they were arresting the man, he became belligerent and combative, kicking two officers.

At that point, police deployed a taser and the man was taken into custody.

The accused was charged with assault with two counts of assaulting police, one count of assault with a weapon, and one count of resisting arrest.

He was taken into custody pending a bail hearing and is now set to be held in custody until May 20, 2021.

Chatham-Kent police are looking for the public's help to identify these two women in connection with a theft investigation at Shoppers Drug Mart in Blenheim.

Police said the incident took place last Saturday night, May 15, 2021.

Charges laid after two crashes in Chatham-Kent

Police have charged a 43-year-old man with failing to yield the right of way after a two vehicle crash on Centre Side Road near Countryview Line Tuesday afternoon.

Minor injuries were reported and the total damage was estimated at $20,000.

In a separate crash later Tuesday afternoon, officers were called to a crash on Fairview Line involving a car and John Deere tractor with an attached planter.

No one was injured and the total damage was estimated at $6,000.

A 26-year-old Chatham man was charged with attempting to pass when the roadway was not clear.

Trailer reported stolen in Wallaceburg

Police are appealing to the public for tips as they try to track down a white Roadmaster trailer full of tools that was reported stolen from a residence on Heritage Line in Wallaceburg.

Officers said it was taken sometime Tuesday night and was last seen with Ontario license plate M87 36H.

The total value of the theft is estimated at $8,000.
