COVID-19 case counts in London-Middlesex are back in the triple digits.
According to The Middlesex London Health Unit, there were 102 new infections recorded on Sunday, along with two new deaths.
The latest deaths were a man and women, both in their 60s, who were not associated with long-term care or retirement home.
There have now been nine COVID-19 deaths over the past week, bringing the total number of fatalities to 210.
Meanwhile, after three days of daily case counts below 100, the region once again recorded a triple-digit increase on Sunday.
Since the pandemic began, a total of 11,181 cases have been reported in the London area.
Ninety-two additional recoveries were also recorded on Sunday. So far, 10,047 individuals in the London area have recovered from the virus and the number of known active cases is currently at 914.
Another 93 variant infections were identified for a total of 1,924. Of those, 1,907 are the B.1.1.7 strain that originated in the U.K., 16 are the P.1 variant from Brazil and one is the B.1.617 variant, originally found in India. There are 277 cases confirmed with a mutation-positive sample.
Outbreaks continue at six health care facilities, one childcare centre and one university residence.
Across Ontario, provincial health officials reported 3,216 new cases on Sunday, 47 more deaths and 3,653 additional recoveries. Currently, there are 1,640 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in the province. As of Saturday night, the province had administered over 6.1-million doses of the vaccine.
