Dozens of new COVID-19 cases confirmed in Midwestern Ontario Monday

Huron Perth Public Health reported they were monitoring 31 active cases of COVID-19 Monday, including ten variants of concern. A dozen new cases of the virus were added to the positive list today, including four in Central Huron, and four in North Perth.  One resident is in hospital fighting the novel coronavirus.  In all, 75 variants have been identified in the region.  The number of fatalities stands at 52.

Meantime, Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health reported 20 people are hospitalized with the virus, while seven patients are in the ICU. Officials added 200 new cases of COVID-19 over the weekend, 43 of them in Wellington County, including 14 active in Wellington North, and four active in both Minto, and Mapleton.  Across that jurisdiction, there are 588 active cases, 101 of them in Wellington.  There have been 35 deaths due to COVID-19 in Wellington.

The Grey Bruce Health Unit added five new cases of the novel coronavirus Monday, two in Owen Sound, two in South Bruce Peninsula, and one in South Bruce. There are 94 active cases, including 35 active variants of concern. Five Grey Bruce residents are hospitalized, including one outside of the region. Five residents recovering from from other regions have been transferred to hospitals in Grey Bruce.
