The Windsor-Essex region saw an increase of 42 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday.
There was also one additional COVID-19 death recorded on Saturday. According to the health unit, the latest person to pass away was a woman in her 80s from the general community.
The death toll in Windsor-Essex is now at 413.
According to the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit, 18 of Saturday's cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, nine cases are community-acquired and 15 cases are still being investigated.
As of Saturday, there are now 15,126 confirmed cases in the region, 710 preliminary or confirmed variant of concern cases have been identified.
There are currently 471 active cases with 14 hospitalizations. There were a total of 55 recoveries over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of resolved cases to 14,242.
As of Saturday, one long-term care home remains in outbreak - Extendicare Southwood Lakes. Three staff members and zero residents have tested positive.
There are also two current school outbreaks and 10 workplace outbreaks in the region.
Meanwhile, an outbreak was also declared on Friday at the Southwest Detention Centre
To date, 124,317 residents have gotten their first dose of the vaccine while 13,579 have received both doses.
In Ontario, provincial health officials logged 4,094 additional cases of the virus on Saturday. The total number of cases in the province is now at 441,404 with 392,044 recoveries and 7,887 deaths.
