An organization that supports children and youth in Chatham-Kent is laying out its cards in order to raise money for its first ever electronic catch the ace raffle.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Chatham-Kent launched Catch the Ace for Kids CK on Friday.
"Sales will close each Thursday night at midnight and then on Friday mornings we will announce the winner and flip over their card," said Caseworker Holly Larivee. "If it's not the ace of spades, the weekly winner still gets 20 per cent of that week's sale and 30 per cent of the week's sales will go into a progressive jackpot for the lucky person who does end up with the ace of spades."
The game ends once the ace of spades is found, however, the fundraiser could last up to 52 weeks depending on how long it takes to find the card. Larivee said raffle updates can be found through Facebook.
Funds raised through the raffle will stay in Chatham-Kent and support children's mentoring programs at Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Larivee said although COVID-19 restrictions have changed how programs operate, they are in "full swing".
"When we're in lockdown -- like right now -- our matches just meet virtually," she said.
Larivee said the virtual meetings could consist of discussions or virtual game nights.
"They just keep that connection going," she said.
Aside from a chance to win the jackpot, there is also an added incentive to playing in the weekly raffle.
"We might be giving away some decent prizes each week in our community which is really cool [during] a time like this," she said.
Raffle tickets can be purchased online at CTA4Kids.com. Tickets prices are 10 for $10, 60 for $20, and 200 for $50.
