A Chatham couple is celebrating after winning big on a lottery ticket.
During the April 12 Daily Grand draw, Harjit and Marilou Singh matched all five numbers to win the second prize of $25,000 a year for life. The pair instead opted to take the lump sum prize of $500,000.
Harjit said he's been playing the lottery for over 30 years. He said he checked online to see what the winning numbers were and noticed they looked familiar.
"I called Marilou over to come see. We checked it together using the OLG Lottery App and it was the happiest moment," he said. "I was so excited I couldn't sleep."
The winning ticket was purchased at Petro Canada on Park Avenue in Chatham. The couple plans to renovate their home and share their winnings with loved ones.
Marilou, an early childhood education student, said that on the night of the draw they even talked about renovating the house if they won the money.
"Now we can make plans," she exclaimed. "It's incredible."
