Another Midwestern Ontario resident succumbs to COVID-19

The Grey Bruce Public Health Unit reports a third resident has succumbed to COVID-19. The individual acquired the infection and was treated in a separate jurisdiction. Four people are in hospital with the virus.

Meantime, nine new cases of COVID-19 were added in Grey Bruce Thursday. There are 48 active cases, including 15 active variants of concern. In all, 29 variants of concern have now been identified.

There are now six COVID-19 variants of concern identified in Huron Perth. However, no new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the region by public health today. There are 12 active cases.

Public health officials in Wellington County added five new cases Thursday, for a total of 25 active cases.

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
