More Windsor-Essex residents will now be able to get their COVID-19 vaccine.
Starting Tuesday, adults 75 years and older in 2021 will be able to register to book a COVID-19 vaccination at one of the four local vaccination clinics in the region - The WFCU Centre clinic, The St. Clair College SportsPlex, Windsor Hall or The Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Centre clinic in Leamington.
Eligible seniors will be able to book an appointment through the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit's new online booking system, which will launch on Tuesday, along with the health unit's call center.
As of Saturday afternoon, the health unit's online pre-registration form that it had been using for appointments will be closed to make way for the new online booking system. The local health unit will not be moving to the provincial booking system for the time being.
Vaccination clinics remain appointment only and walk-ins are not permitted.
Additionally, the province recently announced that eligibility for the AstraZeneca vaccine has been lowered to include adults 60 years of age and older as of Monday.
Any Windsor-Essex residents interested in booking an appointment at one of several Windsor and Essex County pharmacies as part of the provincial pilot program are being directed to contact the participating pharmacy directly.
A list of participating pharmacies can be found by clicking here.
To date, 37,487 Windsor-Essex residents have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 11,935 residents have received both doses.
