Two COVID-19 outbreaks in Chatham declared over

Chatham-Kent is down to one active COVID-19 outbreak after the local public health unit declared two of them over on Friday.

Chatham-Kent Public Health reported the outbreaks in the dialysis unit at the Chatham hospital and Copper Terrace long-term care home in Chatham have ended. The only active outbreak in the municipality at the moment is at a local place of worship, which hasn't been publicly identified for privacy reasons. That outbreak was declared on Wednesday and has three cases. The church is closed to in-person gatherings until further notice.

Public health officials also reported 21 new cases and eight resolved cases for a total of 91 active cases in Chatham-Kent.

The Lambton-Kent District School Board is reporting three confirmed student cases at A. A. Wright Public School in Wallaceburg and one confirmed student case at Wallaceburg District Secondary School. Both schools remain open.

In the St. Clair Catholic District School Board, one confirmed student case is being reported at Georges P. Vanier Catholic School in Chatham and there is one confirmed student case at St. Anne Catholic School in Blenheim -- both of those schools also remain open.
