Man charged in Windsor arson and hit and run

A man from Walpole Island is facing charges for a hit and run and arson in Forest Glade over the weekend.

Around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, police were called to a hit and run on Forest Glade Drive. Witnesses told police a man driving a blue Ford sedan hit a parked vehicle and then took off.

Later that night, officers found the vehicle on fire but the suspect had already left the area.

The suspect was found around 3:20 a.m. and was arrested. Investigators then saw flames at a home on Midfield Crescent.

The blaze was extinguished and no injuries were reported. Windsor Fire and Rescue reported the fire caused $500,000 in damage.

E J Myers, 32, from Walpole island is facing charges of arson of a vehicle, arson with disregard for human life and failing to remain at the scene of a collision. The charges have not been proven in court.
