UPDATE: Pedestrian dies after crash on Hwy. 401 in Chatham-Kent

Chatham-Kent OPP said no charges are expected after a fatal collision on the westbound Highway 401 just east of Bloomfield Road early Friday morning.

Police said they were called at around 6:40 a.m. Friday after a transport truck hit a pedestrian, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

OPP said the pedestrian was a 30-year-old man from London but his identity has not been released.

The transport truck driver was not physically injured.

There were lane restrictions in the area for several hours but all lanes of Hwy. 401 have since reopened.

Police said the death is not considered suspicious and foul play in not suspected.
