COVID count up 22, numerous schools with at least one case

Lambton Public Health reported over 20 new cases of COVID-19 for the fifth day in a row Monday.

The health unit said the case count since March 25, 2020 increased by 22 to 2,254 and there were 12 more recoveries for a total of 2,053. Active cases climbed by 10 to 155.

There are six institutional and workplace outbreaks, up one. A staff member tested positive at Petrolia's Lambton Meadowview Villa while an outbreak at Country Manor Estates in Lambton Shores was declared over. An outbreak was declared at Queen Elizabeth II Public School in Sarnia where two cases, one student and one staff, are reported. The Lambton Kent District School Board's updated website Monday afternoon showed 13 schools with at least one case.

The St. Clair Catholic District School Board reported four student cases and two classes closed at St. Peter Canisius Catholic School in Watford. The board was still reporting student and staff cases at St. Joseph School in Corunna, Holy Rosary in Wyoming and at Sacred Heart, and Gregory Hogan in Sarnia.

Kettle and Stony Point Chief Jason Henry said Sunday that there were 38 active cases at the First Nation.

Bluewater Health has three positive patients in hospital, unchanged from Sunday.
