COVID cases up just one, decline in active cases continues

After a spike over the weekend, Sarnia-Lambton's COVID-19 numbers are improving again.

Lambton Public Health reported just one new confirmed case Wednesday for a total of 2,116 since the end of March 2020.

The number of resolved cases increased by nine to 2,005, the death toll remained unchanged at 46, dropping the number of active infections to 65 from 73 on Tuesday.

There are still six institutional and workplace outbreaks.

Since vaccinations started last month, 3,931 priority group residents have received their first doses and just under 400 have had both shots.

The health unit website said Wednesday the area's incidence rate per 100,000 population, the week of February 21-27, increased to 58 from 56 the week before. The positivity rate dropped from 1.9 per cent to 1.7 per cent.

Bluewater Health has three positive patients in hospital, up one.
