Firefighters in Chatham-Kent had a busy start to the week with two unrelated fires less than 24 hours apart.
Shortly after 5 p.m. Monday, fire officials said a structure fire was reported at a home in Chatham.
The fire sparked in a garage at 115 West Street and caused $5,000 worth of damages, however, quick work by local firefighters saved $350,000 worth of property.
Crews from two stations were at the scene with paramedics. No injuries were reported and the cause of the blaze is undetermined.
"Crews quickly extinguished the fire and prevented it from spreading," said Chief Chris Case. "The fast work by firefighters saved this home and neighbouring homes."
Elsewhere, firefighters from two stations responded to a house fire at 59 Bolohan Drive late Tuesday morning in Tilbury.
Damage is estimated around $100,000. No injuries were reported.
On Wednesday morning, CK fire officials said the cause of the fire is undetermined.
