32 new COVID-19 cases in Windsor-Essex

The Windsor-Essex region saw an increase of 32 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday.

According to the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit, nine of the latest cases are close contacts with a confirmed case, three cases are community-acquired, two are outbreak-related and 18 are still being investigated.

As of Sunday, there are now 12,562 confirmed cases in the region, 305 of which are active cases. A total of 11,902 individuals have recovered from the virus so far in Windsor-Essex.

There were no additional deaths logged on Sunday, with the number of fatalities remaining at 355. Thirty-three people are currently hospitalized.

The number of outbreaks remained the same from Saturday and Sunday- eight workplace outbreaks, seven long-term care and retirement home outbreaks and two community outbreaks.

Provincial health officials in Ontario reported 981 new cases on Sunday, bringing the provincial total to 285,868.
