Windsor Regional Hospital has some good news when it comes to COVID-19 outbreaks on its campuses.
The hospital announced Tuesday morning that the coronavirus outbreaks at the 6-East unit of the Ouellette Campus, and those at the 4-North and 6-North units at Metropolitan, have been rescinded. This just leaves one current outbreak, which is at the 8-West unit at Ouellette.
"To date, 8-West has confirmed that three patients and three staff have tested positive for COVID-19," read a release from the hospital. "Admission to this unit continues, with proper cohorting of COVID-19 patients. Transfers into 8-West from other inpatient areas must be approved by WRH’s Infection Prevention and Control Department."
The hospital did say that the outbreak on 8-W could be rescinded by this weekend if there are no further cases in that unit.
All four of these outbreaks had been confirmed by the hospital on January 29.
Testing and outbreak protocols remain in effect, and precautions were put in place last month to identify potential outbreaks sooner. The hospital says all patients receive a COVID-19 test before admission, whether they have symptoms or not.
According to the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit's website on Tuesday, three hospital outbreaks are active in the region. The other two are at Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare, in the 2-S and 3-N units of the Dr. Y. Emara Centre for Healthy Aging and Mobility.
