Police want to speak with possible crash witness

Chatham-Kent police are looking to speak with a driver of a dark coloured pickup truck who may have witnessed a crash on Aberdeen Street in Merlin last week.

Police said a 42-year-old Merlin man was charged in connection with the collision, which took place at around 1 a.m. on January 29, 2021.

The investigating officer would like to speak with the driver of the pickup truck as a possible witness and because they may have spoken to the driver involved in the collision.

Storage units broken into

Police are investigating after someone broke into four storage units on North Street in Dresden.

Officers said it took place sometime overnight on February 2, 2021, adding that it's not clear yet what was stolen as they are still completing an inventory of the property.

Break and enter suspect arrested

A 24-year-old Chatham man has been arrested and charged in connection with a break and enter on Fifth Street in Chatham.

Police said they were called to the residence on February 2, 2021 and learned that the suspect had entered the residence through a basement window and took off with approximately $500 worth of tools.

Officers were able to track down the suspect and recover the stolen property.

He was arrested, charged, and later released with a future court date.
